GATEway Optimist Governor Update

Greetings fellow Optimist!
I hope this message finds you well and Optimistic. You may be aware that our Gateway District Governor, Kathy Forster, passed away on January 31st. We are saddened by this loss. Over her many years as an Optimist, Kathy has made many great contributions to her club, our district, and Optimist International. Her service will be missed.

Following our District Policies, the Executive Board has asked me to fill the position of governor for the remainder of this term. It is my honor to serve in this role. As I fulfill the remaining term my intentions are, in honor of Kathy, to continue with the goals that she has set for our district.

If you were not in attendance at our conference last weekend, you missed a great opportunity for fun, fellowship, and information. At the banquet on Saturday night, we recognized the 2022-2023 Honor Clubs, Distinguished Clubs, and Distinguished Lt. Governors. Congratulations to Dianna Johnson for being named this year’s inductee to the Gateway District Hall of Fame. Thanks to our clubs in Zone 6 for hosting our Hospitality House on Friday Evening.

In addition, it was announced by Optimist International that the GATEway District earned recognition as a Distinguished District. Congratulations to you as a member of GATEway District for helping our district continue to be a flagship district in the Optimist International organization.

Over the next eight months, we have much to do to accomplish our goals. These goals are designed to support our communities and further spread optimism. I encourage you to track information from the District via email, website, and social media. For Facebook users, our public page is GATEway Optimist. In addition, members are encouraged to join our Facebook GATEway District Optimist International – Members Group.

Thank you for your continued support of your club, the district, and Optimist International. Your dedication and hard work will allow our organization to continue to make an impact on the lives of those we touch.
