Spouse Tour at Savannah Convention!

The Art and Soul of Savannah!

Spouses and guests attending the First Annual GATEway District Convention in Savannah, Georgia, August 12-14, 2016 at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel are invited to join First Lady Laura Bell on the spouse/guest tour to visit Savannah’s historic City Market – known as the art and soul of Savannah. City Market 1The tour will begin with a ferry ride from the hotel and a short walk to the Market. Participants will enjoy a stroll through the market’s shaded courtyard, surrounded by bistros, shops, and art galleries while being serenaded by local musicians. At 12:00 noon everyone will gather at historic Belford’s Savannah for lunch and experience some of the south’s finest cuisine.Belford's 1

The group will depart from the hotel lobby

at 9:45 a.m. Participants will return back

McIntosh County Optimist Club learns about Adult Education

McIntosh County Optimist Club’s guest speaker, an Honor Graduate of McIntosh County Academy and a College Graduate, returned home and became the Director of Adult Education, Megan Jacobs. Megan shared all of the wonderful offerings of the program. She said in addition to getting assistance in acquiring your GED, there are classes for SAT/ACT Prep, ASVAB Prep, Georgia Work Keys and Soft Skills such as Resume Writing and Interview Skills. The members were amazed to hear about all of her partnerships with other local organizations and agencies such as the Development Authority, the Chamber, the McIntosh County School System and Department of Labor. Megan asked for community support in spreading the word to folks 16 years and older who desire to earn their GED and have an opportunity to prepare for the other test prep offerings.
